How does the DIEVAC Incremental Vacuum Die Cutting System Work?

Up to 40cm (10″) of tri-laminate material is positioned on top of the steel rule die board; this is done offline while previously prepared die boards are cycled through the press. When the die board is loaded with material, it is transferred to the press via roller-ball tables.

The press lowers the hood over the entire material-laden die and all the air is quickly removed by the powerful vacuum pump. The material-laden die board and hood enter the press as a single unit. The vacuum pump then expels the air from the system which draws the hood down and compresses the material to approximately 5cm (2″) in height and pressure is applied incrementally along its’ length as it moves through the press.

After the material-laden die board has been incrementally die cut in its’ entirety, the vacuum pump is reversed, and the layer of material returns to its’ original height and the hood is automatically lifted clear. The die board is transferred to a picking table where the cut pieces are removed. Then the process begins again with a new material-laden die board and the cycle can be repeated continuously.

The force of the vacuum creates a firm block of material that does not shift during the cutting process. The vacuum remains constant until the cutting cycle is completed. The result is clean and accurate cut parts every time.
