Upgrading from eWon to MicroEdge for Remote Die Cutting Machine Support

For more than a decade, Freeman Schwabe® has relied on the eWon device to provide secure, reliable remote connections to our customers’ die cutting press machines. This technology has helped us deliver responsive, effective support while minimizing your cutting press downtime.

As technology continues to advance, we are committed to ensuring our remote support capabilities for Schwabe® die cutting press machines stay ahead of the curve. That’s why, beginning January 1, 2026, Freeman Schwabe® will officially discontinue the eWon subscription in favor of a new solution: the MicroEdge Basic Gateway.

Why the Change to MicroEdge for Schwabe® Die Cutting Press Remote Support?

With the recent introduction of our advanced Exor Operator Interface (HMI) technology, we needed a  compatible, efficient, and cost-effective remote access solution for our die cutting press machines. MicroEdge meets all these requirements and more:

• Compact and lightweight — easy to install in place of the current eWon device in your die cutting press machine.
• Secure remote connection — maintains the same high level of security and reliability you expect from Schwabe® remote die cutting press support.
• No ongoing subscription fees — unlike the eWon, there are no yearly or credit-based subscription costs. Freeman Schwabe® has historically covered these subscription fees for our customers, but the MicroEdge removes them entirely.

What Does the Change to MicroEdge for Remote Die Cutting Machine Support Mean for You?

To continue receiving free remote for support for your Schwabe® die cutting press machine beyond January 1, 2026, your existing eWon device will need to be replaced with the MicroEdge Basic Gateway. There is a one-time hardware cost for the MicroEdge. After installation, Freeman Schwabe® will test the connection and assist you as needed to ensure your die cutting machine is fully accessible for remote support.

This change helps us deliver secure, dependable, and modern support tools without ongoing fees, keeping your die cutting equipment running efficiently for years to come.
