"We currently have and use three different Freeman -Schwabe presses, a 230 Ton belt feed, a 115 ton receding head and a 115 ton sliding drawer press. Our oldest, the 115 receding head is 16 years old and used daily. I mention this to provide some perspective on the quality and durability issue. Our 230 Ton press ( in service since July 2008) has become one of the most productive machines in our plant. Jobs that used to take a full day or more are done in a few hours. The programming is logical and mastered fairly quickly by line workers. The capabilities of the machine allow for closer nesting, better yield and less scrap. This machine has exceeded our expectations.
Service and parts are never a problem, but very little ever goes wrong. If something does, and eventually it will, their service people are outstanding. They come, figure out the problem and fix it, no wasted time.
Further, in the past, I made the mistake of buying what I thought was a very similar machine offshore. Nothing but problems, nobody to service it and no parts readily available. You get what you pay for !"
